Kamikouchi

Kamikouchi provides everything from an easy hike on a 1400m high plateau/valley to nearly 3000m mountains to climb. It's famous in Japan for its nature which means: beware the crowds in high season. Off-season I found it quite empty an quiet but cold. It's quite a trip from Tokyo so wothout overnight stay at a campsite or hut it's not possible to make. There night busses from Shinjuku though (not in off-season).
