To my knowledge, this might be the top spot for Hydrangea in Tokyo. Beneath Asukayama Park a small alley provides with an incredibly nice line of hydrangea in a rather quiet - well no crowds but trains - environment. And compared to famous Bunkyo Ajisai Matsuri the hydrangea are impressive. So instead of Kamakura - just stay in Tokyo!

Pictures were taken a bit late in the season (2nd July) - but still...
Location: Oji Station, Central Exit (arriving with JR) then turn left to a small alley along the railway tracks. It's actually not in Asukayama park but beneath.
